The Industry Just Shifted.

The Industry Just Shifted.

More than an industry headline

When major brokerage groups announce a shared initiative, I think it’s important to look beyond the headline. Open Real Estate brings together organizations that ordinarily compete to explore a different approach to listing-data infrastructure. The announcement raises a question worth asking: what part of our industry works better when companies cooperate rather than build everything separately?

The bigger change underway

The industry continues to evolve in how listings are distributed, how agents use technology and what consumers expect. Information can move through several systems before it reaches the people who need it. A shared approach may help reduce duplication and create more consistent access for participating organizations, but the outcome will depend on the actual design, governance and adoption of the proposed platform.

What it means for my journey

I’m making the transition from RE/MAX to Real, and that experience has pushed me to look at the business from more than one perspective. I’m interested in where brokerage models are going, what support agents really need, and how we can build businesses that are prepared for change. It’s not about declaring that one model suits everybody. It’s about understanding the choices in front of us.

Let’s keep talking

That’s the reason The Brokerage Shift exists. I want this to be a place for thoughtful conversations with agents, team leaders and owners who want to see the industry move forward. This announcement is only one story in a much larger shift, and I’ll be following how it develops.
